One machine, two heads
Thick brush with trees needs the drum mulcher. Open fields with weeds and saplings need the brush hog. We run both on one compact track loader and switch to fit the job.
| Drum mulcher | Brush hog | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Dense brush mixed with small to medium trees | Brush, saplings and tall growth with few larger trees |
| What it leaves | Wood chips ground into the surface | Cut material lying on the ground |
| Typical land | Overgrown acreage, trails, woods, building sites | Fields, pasture, fence lines, ditches |
| Speed | Slower, goes through heavier growth | Faster where the growth allows |
Who we clear land for
Landowners
You bought land, inherited it, or watched it close in over the years. We open it back up: trails, building sites, hunting land, old homesteads.
Overgrown land clearingFarmers
Brush eats field edges and fence rows first. We clear hay ground and pasture so the equipment fits through again.

The thicket at the back of the lot, the tree line, the overgrown yard edge. We clear it and leave the yard usable.

Mulch stays. Burn piles and hauling go away.
A mulcher works where the brush stands. The ground stays covered, the soil stays put, and you are not left with piles to burn or trucks to load.
- No burn piles or burn permits
- No logs and slash to haul out
- Chips cover bare soil and slow erosion
- One compact track loader, so we get into tighter spots

Questions we hear a lot
How is forestry mulching different from traditional land clearing?
Traditional clearing usually means a dozer or excavator pushing trees and brush into piles, then burning them or trucking them off. That takes more equipment and more days, and it scrapes up the soil. Mulching works in place: one compact track loader with a drum head cuts the growth and chips it onto the ground. You skip the burn piles, the burn permits and the hauling, and the topsoil stays where it is. Forestry mulching also tends to cost much less than traditional land clearing.
How much does it cost?
There are no flat rates. Every property is different, so we walk it with you for free and give you a written quote. Acreage, how thick the growth is, tree size, terrain and access all affect the price.
Are you insured?
Yes, fully insured. Ask and we will send a certificate.
What happens to the mulch?
It stays on the ground. It covers the soil, slows erosion and breaks down over time. Most people leave it in place. If you want it hauled off, ask and we will quote it.
How big a tree can the mulcher take?
Small to medium trees, plus any amount of brush. Bigger trees are looked at one by one during the walkthrough so you know what is included before you agree to anything.
What is the difference between mulching and brush hogging?
The mulcher chews through brush and trees and leaves chips on the ground. The brush hog cuts brush and grass faster where there are few larger trees. It is the same machine with a different head, so we use the one that fits, or both.
Do you work outside the counties listed?
Ask anyway. If it is within reason, we will tell you whether the trip makes sense.
