What forestry mulching costs

We do not publish flat rates. Two acres can be a half day or three days depending on the land. Here is what drives the price, so you can compare quotes on the same footing.

What sets the price

  • How thick the growth is. Open brush goes fast. Dense stands with trees take longer.
  • Tree size and number. Bigger trees slow the machine and wear the tool.
  • Acreage. Larger jobs usually cost less per acre than small ones.
  • Terrain. Slopes, wet ground and rocks slow the work.
  • Access. Gate width and the distance from the road affect travel and setup.
  • Extras. Hauling chips off, extra clearing or other work are priced separately.

How we quote

We walk the property with you for free and write up what we saw. You get a written quote that says what is included. The price comes from your land, not a chart.

Compared with traditional clearing

Forestry mulching tends to cost much less than traditional land clearing. The mulcher does the cutting, grinding and spreading in one pass, so there are no burn piles to manage and no loads to haul.

Questions to ask any contractor

  • Is the quote written, and what does it include?
  • Is the price by the hour, by the acre or for the job?
  • What happens to larger trees and stumps?
  • Is the mulch left in place, and is hauling extra?
  • Is the company insured, and can you see the certificate?

We are fully insured, and we are glad to send a certificate.
